Rosh Hashanah - Tips for Setting a Beautiful Table

I love decorating my table, whether I’m hosting a large gathering or keeping it small and intimate. All it takes are a few thoughtful touches to make it feel warm, festive, and inviting. This year, I played around with different ideas for Rosh Hashanah, and I’m so excited to share them with you!

I always begin by choosing a color scheme. Often, I’ll pull inspiration from the challah cover, napkins, or even my dishes. A cohesive palette instantly sets the tone and creates a beautiful foundation for the rest of the table.

2. Apples & Honey With a Twist

No Rosh Hashanah table is complete without apples and honey. I love displaying them on a charcuterie board, it makes such a striking centerpiece! To elevate the presentation, I’ll add cheese, crackers, pomegranates, dates, and figs. Sometimes I even tuck in bosc pears and grapes for that rich autumn feel.

3. A Special Touch at Each Plate Setting

Adding a little detail to each plate makes the table feel extra special. Over the years, I’ve used beaded charms, honey sticks with dippers, personalized marzipan treats, napkins, place cards, or even a simple apple. It’s a small gesture that makes a big impact.

4. Votives & Natural Accents

Candlelight brings magic to the table. I scatter votives throughout, and the Star of David votives are a staple I bring out for every Jewish holiday. I’ll sometimes mix in small apples or pomegranates as natural décor for added texture and color.

5. Flowers & Finishing Touches

Flowers always breathe life into a tablescape. I arrange blooms in my chosen palette, then complete the setting with a kiddush cup, candle holders, elegant dishes, and beautiful glasses. Together, these elements create a warm and welcoming table that feels celebratory and full of meaning.
