How to Set a Rosh Hashanah Tablescape- Peace Love Light Shop

Rosh Hashanah - Tips for Setting a Beautiful Table

I love decorating my table, whether I’m hosting a large gathering or keeping things small and intimate. It doesn’t take much to make a table feel warm, festive, and inviting. A few thoughtful touches can go a long way.

This year, I played around with different ideas for Rosh Hashanah and I’m so excited to share them with you!

1. Start with a Color Palette

I always begin by choosing a color palette. Often, I’ll pull inspiration from the challah cover, napkins, or even my dishes. Once I have a palette in mind, I build the rest of the table around it.

A cohesive color scheme instantly sets the tone and creates a beautiful foundation for everything else.

2. Apples & Honey With a Twist

No Rosh Hashanah table is complete without apples and honey.  I love displaying them on a charcuterie board.  It makes such a beautiful and unexpected centerpiece.

To elevate the presentation, I’ll add cheese, crackers, pomegranates, dates, and figs. Sometimes I’ll even tuck in Bosc pears and grapes for a rich, autumn-inspired feel.

It’s a simple way to bring the traditional foods of Rosh Hashanah to the table while making the whole spread feel abundant and inviting.

3. A Special Touch at Each Plate Setting

Adding a little detail to each place setting makes the table feel extra special. Over the years, I’ve used beaded charms, honey sticks with dippers, personalized marzipan treats,  pretty napkins, place cards, or even a simple apple.

These little details don’t have to be complicated. It’s the thoughtfulness behind them that makes each guest feel special.

4. Votives & Natural Accents

Candlelight brings a little magic to the table. I love scattering votives throughout the tablescape, and our star of David votives are a staple I bring out for every Jewish holiday.

I’ll sometimes mix in small apples, pomegranates, or other natural elements to add texture, color, and a little bit of that beautiful early-fall feeling.

5. Flowers & Finishing Touches

Flowers always breathe life into a tablescape. I like to arrange blooms in my chosen color palette and then layer in the finishing touches - a kiddush cup, candle holders, beautiful dishes, and elegant glasses.

It’s all about layering pieces that feel beautiful together without making the table feel too formal or fussy. When everything comes together, you have a table that feels warm, welcoming, celebratory, and full of meaning.
